Man6 thanks…yup I like the Oshiro models.    Don’t take up too much space on the smaller table, plenty of character…and a complete departure from the throng of laser cut wood or printed models that seem to dominate.  Easy enough to paint too.

Anyway, one painted bridge!    Every bridge I see for this period is a little ornate red wood bridge…this will fit the grittier rural village better I think.    Maybe not everyone’s paint taste but I’ve hit on a bamboo colouring that works for me.  Wide enough to take the multibases too.

I suppose at some point I really MUST make a river! 😉

Then you’ll need a little old man with fishing pole sitting upon the build.  ;D

Many years ago I picked up such a fisherman, & a water buffalo, from a shop in the
Birmingham China town. They were crude pottery, but were OK in the background.
A little big for my 25mm Vietnam, but would do in 28mm.
Mine went with the Vietnam collection when I sold it.

Digits,
I am a big fan of all of your bamboo constructions! How fiddly are they to make?

Cheers…well…..not so much fiddly…..as time consuming.

The only real tip I have is to glue each joint first with pva or superglue.  I prefer superglue as it’s quicker.   As soon as it takes, tie the knot to the joint.    This is by it takes time, because you are tying each knot as you go.   I also immediately add a dab of superglue to each knot as I make it to stop it unravelling.   With waxed thread this is important I’ve found.

I don’t use a ruler….each stick is roughly judged as I find it looks a tad more rustic.   Also when painting, add a drop of black to the end of each pole to make it look hollow.

Couple of painted Oshiro buildings including temple.  Starting to realise 3 x 3 doesn’t give you a huge amount of space! Lol

Think I may need a couple more garden pieces / planted fields to dot about…..

Ta.

So, I decided to make a smaller bridge ( so I could also do a simple tutorial at some point) in order to progress making a pond.

Pond mock up

And with some scraps I decided on a third bridge….well…. maybe a simple stream crossing…..

They all look fine David, but given your WW2 gaming, is this... a Bridge too far?  lol

Wow, these look great!

I'll probably go with a little red bridge from the aquarium aisle, but your table will look much better.

Cat…give it a go…..not difficult, just a tad brain numbing!    I personally can’t tie the same knot twice….🤭
