Painted Sci Fi adventurer: old Traveller figure

Those are the classic Citadel Traveller 15s. They are still fantastic after all these years. RAFM were starting to reissue them, but recently pulled the plug. I wish I'd kept hold of mine - had the complete set. Lots of character.

The Perry twins sculpted them IIRC.

Thanx for setting me straight on the manufacturer, Earther.  I also have a bunch of mini's that are Martian Metal.  I thought they were all from the same company, just improved sculpts.

I'd assumed they were sculpted by Bryan Ansell for years. No idea the were the Perry Twins.

Citadel Traveller were the Perrys and some of the Laserburn stuff was Brian Ansell, AFAIK - there is some Asgard SF amongst the Laserburn sculpts, but I don't know who did those.

A friend gave me a bag of loose figures like the one in the original post, cleaning out his gaming closet years ago.

This is the first time I've ever seen one painted, and I've never tried painting any of the ones I have.    They're nicely done little figures, if I had any use for them, they'd be fun to paint up, I think.

I think the original figure posted was from a line of minis made for "Striker", a mass combat game for Traveler.  There were soldiers for various tech levels.  If anyone knows about this, help me fill in my memory gaps...

Stuff of Legends has a picture of the Citadel Traveller boxed set 3: Ships Crew. You can see this miniature bottom right.

I believe that at the time these were producted Citadel had strong links with Ral Partha and figures appeared to be producted by both companies. It could well have been part of a Striker set in the US.

Yeah, I did see that they were re-releasing these. Some great sculpts there... Anyone in the UK had experience ordering from Rafm?

In the US, back in the mid eighties, I first came across the Citadel 15mm Traveller figures, and they were not boxed but in little plastic bags and marketed for the Striker! rule set (which I also picked up at that time, my actual first table top mass combat system.) Unfortunately when I found them they were no longer in production. But via Dragon magazine at that time I found a Canadian retailer who had a number of them still in stock, so a friend and I bought him out. And although I sold most of the ones I painted on eBay a few years ago (they were worth their weight in gold at that time) I still have about 600 of them. There were low, mid and high tech infantry. (the low tech were very WWII looking) and the high tech had about three variants, there were also vacc-suits, ships crew and citizens (which included the security guard types) and aliens, the Aslan, Vargr and the Droyne. Great sculpts, still think they're the finest looking 15's I've ever seen.

Yea it is pretty amazing how good these look.  Khurasan Miniatures and Critical Mass Games have been putting out some really nice figures as well.  GZG of course has redone some of their figure line and some of the newer figures are outstanding.
