Awesome stuff, I like those miniatures. I am going to look silly for asking, but what is T and T?

Thanks!

T&T is the most awesome tabletop wargame ruleset on the planet! ;) Now, seriously, it´s a set of rules for gaming small to medium-size scenarios of the late 19th and early 20th century, with a "pulp/fun" slant, much like old adventure movies from the 1930s-1960s. It was written by Forum member Driscoles, with some help from me.

You can find more information on our "official" website

I imagine everyone already knows this, but the figure with the ornate sword on his shoulder was sculpted to be the famous Tippu Tib.  Copplestone did a great job, the mini's face looks EXACTLY like the existing photographs of Tippu Tib.  His (auto)biography is a really great read.  You can read lots more about him in Stanley's books.

Great looking figures, even better looking units !!

Great start for your Zanzibari force, Chris!

Did I ever mention that at those ancient times when Guernsey Foundry (that was their name then) released the Darkest Africa range for the first time, one was able to get a subscription for ALL the packs to be sent to your home address immediately after release, and for a special price? That's what I did, and that's the reason why tons of DA stuff still waits to be painted under the huge lead pile. So maybe it's a good idea to send me a pm about figs you are looking for, perhaps I can get you a nice offer.

 :)

Finally some reinforcements!

First, a cannon (obsolete, by all means). Lovely little piece by Foundry. I added a porter with a box of supplies (ammunition, or whatever) to make it a full 5-man squad as for the T&T rules. This, of course, is a bit out of scope for the "African Adventures" approach, but will do nicely for the Nyasaland and Abushiri games I hope to play later on.

Next, the basis for a baggage train. I´ll allocate a number of the previously painted figures as guards for the baggage train to make it a full unit. Somehow I thought the Slaver with the whip was most suited to "command" this unit.

Better pics ASAP. I´m afraid my camera is nearing the end of its days.

What´s next? If I can find some at Fiasco, I hope to add a unit of Ruga Ruga by mid-November.

Love the gun and crew, Chris! You've done a far better job of painting them than I managed  >:(

The Zanzibaris are great fun to paint, though. Loads of skin colour variations plus some really snazzy shirts, turbans etc as well as those lovely red slippers. Much more fun than khaki-clad regular troops. I also like your slaver wielding the whip. I'd never have thought to paint him in those colours, but he looks really distinctive. Very "Indiana Jones" in fact.

Can't wait to see the Ruga Ruga. Now they are Sharp Dressed Men :D
