A Question About Base Sizes
« on: May 20, 2021, 09:40:37 PM »
As I am looking to embark on a couple of new army building projects I am wondering what size bases would best accommodate the most systems. These are 28mm figures, I  am thinking either 4 figures on 40mm square bases, 6 figures on 60mm wide bases by 40mm, or possibly Impetus sized bases. Is there an alternative to these I should consider?

If you want the most versatile - single bases....maybe use on of the tray-styles.  Renedra, for instance, has 25mm bases that slot into trays, etc.

What kind of genre are you thinking about?

One army is Ancients (Gauls/British/Celts from Warlord and others) the other is 17thC/18thC Indians (mostly Indus Miniatures with some Foundry Cavalry). For these projects I want to move away from movement trays so individually based figures isn't really in consideration.

For ancients, if you go for one rank of figures on 60mm wide bases you can play a huge number of different rules. That’s how my collection is based.
