Three month walk to the Hanoi Hilton for Delp or a pistol round in the back of the noggin?

Great battle report, Jim! Fingers crossed for Delp, but it doesn't sound like a major action is afoot to scour the bushes for him.  :'(

Sounds like the rules are working out pretty good for you guys?

Yes, well, we'll see.  I have an idea... ;)

Thanks for providing such interesting reading.

You're quite welcome!

A.  Yes, we're all enjoying the games and the rules.  Which is interesting, as they are a but crunchier that we typically enjoy.  But they do simulate Vietnam action pretty well.  As Dave keeps observing -  When the US boys win (which, so far anyway, they're actually doing), it don't feel really like it...  :o

B.  Thanks, Mike.  Like I said, I have an idea...

All y'all stay tuned for news...

I have that same discussion of "crunchiness" in rules with Andy, one of our regulars. I prefer streamlined over "chewy" -- the term he uses. Best example is having to roll for 30+ internal hits in those Star Fleet Battles games. "Oh, you hit the Holodeck -- no, wait, you already hit that. Roll again." Or cross off boxes and boxes of armor Battletech. Spare me...  lol

Glad you guys are having fun.

Thanks, Mike.  We definitely are having fun...

It appears that the boys in the 2 shop have received HUMINT from locals in one of the countless hamlets in 2-12 Cav's AO that the VC are herding "white guys" in one said hamlet.  Perhaps SSG Delp is one of those "white guys".  It looks like a possible rescue mission is in order for 18 July...scenario details should be posted after our WW2 game on 11 July...stay tuned!

Oh I still play a bit of Battletech these days and, honestly, crossing off the little circles isn't too bad a problem.
Should've played 'Centurion' - every side (6 plus a turret) had a tiny block of armour boxes and every type of weapon had a different template - you lined up your template over the block of boxes and filled in the boxes underneath and maybe, if you were lucky, you 'widowed' (if it was surrounded by destroyed armour boxes, you destroyed it too) a chunk of armour. I still shudder at the thought sometimes!  lol

I never actually played it (I still have some of the plastic grav tanks somewhere).

Slight change of plans.  11 July will see another AWI game (using Valour & Fortitude this time).  Our next Nam '68 Tour of Duty game is still on for 18 July, though.

It'll be another 2-squad affair - which is good, as the platoon is effectively down to 2 squads anyway.  Another attack on a hamlet, this time with 3 Search points - and there'll be a small chance that they'll find previously captured Americans (and a smaller chance, if they find any, that one'll be SSG Delp).  Again plenty of civilians, with enough VC to make things interesting (as the VC did in the war, I'll be adapting their tactics... 8)).

Details will follow after 11 July.  Stay tuned, should you be interested in doing so.   ;)

And here are those details.  1st up is the Scenario Info Sheet:

And here is a bit better look at the map:

And, last but not least, the Platoon Roster for Game 7:

As you can see, the ranks are getting thin.  3rd Platoon needs to be careful, and/or get some replacements soon.  They are getting close to combat ineffectiveness.

They hit the SP at 1100 hrs. Friday (18 July).  AAR to follow...

Christ! There's a barely a squad's worth left. :o That's pretty heavy attrition.
