Background:
Baker tries to get from Trinikat to Tokar to support the city surrounded by Mahdists.
Game 1:
It is played with 1000 points. Each faction must field a commander and two characters.
Deployment:
The British start in the middle of the long end of the board (point D).
The Ansar start with their three smoke tokens placed somewhere on edge B or C
and move 1 unit from B or C onto the field each turn.
From the third round, this unit can only be moved by E or F.
Task of the British:
1) Try to move two or more units in the area of A off the field.
2) Try to kill at least 30 enemies
3) The game ends after the 7th round. Try to resist with at least 3 units on plate B/C. The units must still have at least half the initial strength.
Tasks of the Ansar:
1) Try to kill at least 30 enemies.
2) Kill at least 3 characters (commander/hero/standard/trumpeter).
3) The game ends after the 7th round. You win if there are no more than 10 enemies on plate B/C at the end of round 7.
The winner of the game gets 100 points to his army for the second game.
I drew number 1 as a task. So I had to leave the field with two or more units in the area of point A.
The Egyptian troops entered the playing field. In the foreground my cavalry. A breakthrough would be most likely with them.
The infantry were in the middle and my smoke tokens were on the outside. They were also revealed very quickly - there was nothing underneath
The Ansar are on the hills
Sometimes I'm quite confident and charged with my cavalry in the direction of the hill - what should happen (except maybe I'm shot at there - oh dear)
The Ansar post their ranged weapons and larger troops on the table, saving their cavalry for later when they can enter the table at E and F
Now I've been shot at and the guys have also hit - oje-oje
But the infantry are still (still) all there
Unfortunately, I took the photo too late here. In fact, the Ansar cavalry came from the side and tore my two cavalry units to shreds
Now the crazies are climbing up to my elevated position as well. Well, they're just savages, and my Egyptian infantry is trained, in formation, etc.
Fucking confidence - the guys flattened me - so I have to retire.
Why is he attacking my infantry with his damned cavalry now? That wasn't planned at all. They've done enough damage already
After that the debacle got so bad that I didn't take any more pictures - the camel troops were still laughing this morning. My plan was bad... and ill-considered. Well, then to the second act (in a few weeks)
I hope it was a little fun.
