Viriathus, Enemy of Rome
« on: 03 July 2021, 12:40:49 PM »
I recently found myself stuck at home with yet another period of self-isolation so some chums and I organised a Zoom game to cheer me up.  This was based around the campaigns of Lusitanian hero Viriathus who fought the Romans in the 2nd Century BCE.  We used my own Midgard rules once again (still in playtesting) with some new tweaks and traits.  The game simulated the period pretty well, with a Lusitanian ambush being beaten off by manipular tactics and use of reserves (and a dose of luck for the Romans).  We did, however, leave out the rules for single combats, as didn't feel this was appropriate for this scale of game.

Here's a few pics - there is a full report and many more photos on the blog here:

That’s a great looking game! The board and the miniatures are impressive. I especially like the mountain and cave.

Thank you.  The hillside is a repurposed piece that I made about 20 years ago, but recently reworked to match my sandy fleece cloth. I added some plastic rock pieces and it would have been remiss not to put a cave in!

Great looking table and minis! It would seem you had a good time. The cave is a nice touch.

Lovely armies and table as always James.  Surely the wolf should be on the Roman side?
