And the glorious general led the advance
With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

But what is the conclusion of this?
- infantry almost on the break and not going into square against cavalry is not very smart?
- fresh cavalry against very weak infantry probably wins?
Imho this doesn't say much about this rules as afaik almost with almost all rules this would happen.

The infantry not going into square was our mistake, nothing about the rules.

Sorry, sounded a little bitchy.
Of course not going into square was your mistake as you explained.
I like what you do in explaining the flow of the rules.

Another player's game of this same scenario, with what appear to be 6mm figures:
The heavy cavalry brigade came through again.
