South Gate Anta House
The so-called Anta House of Troy VI is a cult-related building that stands outside the walls, close up to the South Gate.
An anta house is one that is open on a short side, presumably designed as a porch of some kind. I have invented a wooden partition with a double doorway allowing the house some privacy but also allowing it to fully open onto the roadway.
This anta house, located so near the principle gate of Troy, may have been associated with cult activity as evidence of burning and religious ritual have been found within its walls. However, the Bronze Age peoples of the Aegean did not have temples so this building is not a temple. Any religious activity may have been associated with the South Gate and the large stone stelai that stood on the other side of the roadway.
I’ve given the model a stone bench, decorated fireplace with smoke hole, and working doors.
