Best Wargaming and Hobby Blogs
« on: 12 August 2021, 02:35:53 AM »

Which do people think are the all around best blogs for historical, fantasy, Sci Fi gaming, modelling, painting etc?

In any language or country and concerning all around excellence with writing, story telling, photos, story telling using photos, painting, game/campaign scenarios, wargame rules innovations and reviews, blog format, layout, and ease of use.

Thought it might be useful to start a roll call of the best gaming blogs out there. I will forebear for the moment in listing the ones I like because i don't want to box members in to the type of blogs they want to submit. It would be helpful to hear a short reason why you think a blog is good stuff.

Here some of my favourites.

This group are regularly updated, about once- sometimes twice- a week:
Palouse Wargaming Journal; mostly historical- link.
Dampf's Modelling Page; a lot of model building construction from scratch historical and fantasy- (link).
Fawcett Avenue Conscripts; everything from 40K to 10mm historicals- link.
LAF's own Atheling's blog; historical- link.

This group less regularily (sometimes very irregularily):
Oliclanad's Games; historical, wonderful pictures of games and well painted minis- link.
Jay's Wargaming Madness; a variety of fantasy and historicals, great photography and well painted armies- link.
Wargaming with Silver Whistle; not a lot of pictures of games but fantastic photos of terrain and minis- link
Spanish Lead Painting; mostly historical but some fantasy- link.
Oshiro's jimbibblyblog; lots of wonderful scratchbuilt buildings- link.

John Bonds wargaming stuff http://iagsmgm.blogspot.com/; scratchbuilding terrain and converting miniatures master.

Pijlie's wargames blog http://pijlieblog.blogspot.com/; inspirational scratchbuilt terrain and homemade scenario's.

I would also like to add Troop of Shewe's blog, I quite like the scratch building and painting he showcases.

Apart from that definitely agree with previous posts!

Well, if we are talking about Wargame design, I think the Delta Vector Blog has a great series on the subject.

The wars of the Gelderland Succession - a long running Maurice campaign that reads like a history of the seven years war as written by Sid James. Laugh out loud war games humour
