The Terrible Fate of Trans National Air flight 813
« on: 15 August 2021, 09:43:00 PM »
Friday, August 13th 20XX.   Trans National airlines flying corporate evacuees from New York to their retreat bunkers outside of Phoenix,AZ but they never made it.   The first comet fragments were starting their journey earthward with one small piece impacting the wing and taking out their engines.   The pilots tried valiantly but in vain to land the plane, with only 2 people walking away "alive" but terribly injured.  They may be the only ones to know of the treasure the plane contained, if you can still find them.

I was able to lay my hands on an interesting large model:  Legendary Scenery's jet plane, purchased on eBay for appx $50 USD.    It's a 3d printed piece, so if you think it might be a bit "angular", you'd be right.   But..... it paints up really well.    I was also able to acquire a couple of extra pieces.  Scale-wise, it could be a large international plane in 20 mm or a mid-size commuter in 28mm.  Other companies make similar items in resin so take a look

The basic technique for the piece was to spray paint them in testors chrome, but any kind of silver oughtta do.   Then flat/seal them.   Next, use masking liquid, and sponge on several "dabs" all over the surface.    Once that's done, spray paint the fuselage color.   Then mask off some other sections and paint them a contrasting color.

Once that's done and has dried, rub off the masked parts.   You'll have some flaking paint with metal fuselage underneath.     Thereafter, I rusted out several sections with the Vallejo rust paint set, which is quickly becoming one of my favorites.    I added some windshield strips in putty and painted it back.   After flat/sealing that section, I used glossy Mod-Podge decoupage to make the windshield look glossy.

I printed off a globe logo and dubbed the airline "Trans National Air", which would shorten to TNA flight 813 as the day before yesterday was Friday the 13th.   If you don't get this particular verbal nuance, you might want to ask your dad.   After all, what do they fly on TNA air?    It's kind of like asking what the T&A supply company (a real company) actually supplies.   It's obviously commercial flooring, right?  What else could it possibly be?   It's OK if you don't get it.   You might be somewhat sheltered or just very young.   In that case, you'll be hit with the vissicitude later in life and will burst out laughing once your unconscious mind bubbles it up with some understanding.    Think of it as a joke with an extended punch line.

Anyhow, here are the pics.   There's the full wreck, and a couple of post-apocalyptic shacks that I made out of the extra pieces.    Enjoy!

That is nice.

The faceted nature of the fuselage does look a bit odd.
