Trans-Asiatic Petroleum Prospecting & Salvage, Inc.
« on: January 26, 2012, 03:36:44 PM »
"Viena, Austria 1923

Good morning, and thank you for attending the ribbon cutting for the latest venture of the Hamburg businessman and multi millionaire Pieter Vorschlaghammer. With great anticipation he would like to announce the formation of a new company, Trans-Asiatic Petroleum Prospecting & Salvage, Incorporated, intent on finding and exploiti- I mean, utilizing untapped oil reserves in Central Asia. With the anouncement of the company's formation also goes out an open invitation for employees to mount the company's first expedition."

Such is the background fluff for my Back of beyond force. I wil be using this thread to post additions to my force as it grows. :)

Not much, but here's the man himself, Herr Vorschlaghammer:

Herr Pieter Vorschlaghammer is a German businessman of wealth, a man a bit too fond of wine, and the expedition’s financier. The expedition’s purpose is to find Central Asian oil reserves to claim so that Herr Vorschlaghammer may profit from high petrol prices in his native Germany. He sought out the best experts money could hire to ensure the expedition’s success. He is armed with a fully automatic Spanish Astra 903 with an extended 20 round magazine, which is to his advantage given his near constant state of inebriation.

Also, a few (rough and ready) W.I.P. pics of his newest purchase for the expedition, a bit of Great War surplus: a Nieuport 11 biplane that he picked up cheap in France.

I've stated painting it, and I should get it done by this weekend.

Anyways, thanks for looking, and there'll be more on the TAPPS Inc. expedition as I get it done. :)

Hello again. I finally finished painting the Nieuport.  :)

Captain Archie Dunning, Flying Officer, Royal Air Corps (Ret.): Rather disappointed when the Great War ended, Captain Dunning became an exhibition flyer in order to stay in the air. Though the Trans-Asiatic Petroleum, Prospecting & Salvage Company only promised him the opportunity to fly scouting missions, he still jumped at the slim chance of seeing air-to-air combat. While he holds the Nieuport in admiration, Dunning is a Briton at heart and was heard to have said, “She’s a lovely bird, but she’s no Sopwith Camel!”

And here's a closeup (well, as close as my camera can get  ::) )of Captain Dunning; he's a conversion of the 1/48 scale pilot that came in the kit. He was originally standing and didn't have the top half of a head (his kepi came seperately). It was my first real modelling foray with greenstuff and I'm rather pleased with the result.

And here's a closeup of the wing markings. It took me forever to come up with a logo that I liked. This will be on all of my vehicles, eventually. It's a good thing that it's supposed to look like someone painted it on with a paint can and brush, because my model painting skills are pretty dodgy!

And finally, here's a picture of my entire painted BoB force to date. Not much, but a start. :)

I have a downed version of Captain Dunning as well, but he isn't painted yet.

Thanks for looking,
