F.A.R.T. (Far Asian Response Team)
« on: September 16, 2009, 09:18:33 PM »
My Japanese are just about done for the time being so I thought I'd do some Brits because, well, just because. I think the name could do with some work though  ;D  ;)

I got a pack of India mutiny artillery crew at Colours on Saturday for starters and made them a navel cannon to shoot with, I intend on making a small steam 'car' to pull it around with enough seating for all six (think old fire engine)

The cannon has been scratchbuilt using styrene, tubing, a bit of filler, odds and sods and some of the old GW wheels, which are rather cracking for this sort of thing  :) The idea is that is has recoil capability but also runs back on the trails.

I really must sort out the lighting or my camera when taking photos and the stray bits of static grass that always seem to pop up  >:(

cheers

James

Nice  8)
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

Lovely gun! Those wheels really do look like they are late19th/ early 20thC and are very similar to those seen on the old traction engines at fairs etc. Shame they are not available for sale separately, as they would be great for all sorts of VSF jiggery-pokery  :)

The only thing wrong with the name is that it's possibly not "Victorian" enough. In terms of juvenile hunour, it hits the bulls-eye  lol

Lovely stuff James :-* :-*
Really like the painting.
The scratch built gun is great. I will need to dig in my bits box to see if I have any wheels like that.
Who makes the crew?

I think you are going to need a bigger rammer.   :o

Super minis and BIG gun!

Thanks for the replies chaps  :)

@ Gluteus Maximus - I picked the wheels up at Colours on Saturday from a second hand stall, shame they didn't have any more. I was at a loss for the name, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated  ;)

@ gamer Mac - he crew are from the India mutiny range from Foundry, picked up second hand aswell  :)

cheers

Excellent piece that is. The crew too. FART... lol.

Too bad you didn't have more of those wheels. I still have a couple or so kicking around my bits box, but I need a few more sets for my heavy mortar battery I'm wanting to do.

It seems your mutineers are lacking sufficient ammunition stores though. ;)

They look even better in the flesh and the gun is superb. :)

Gluteus,

If you ask John at Ironclad nicely he'll sell you some spare parts. He's my source for wheels.

As Malamute said, Jimbibbly's goodies look even better in the flesh.

Hang on, I'll rephrase that: Jimbibbly's VSF creations look even better in the flesh.
Don't!

Thanks TC, I'll do that. I have some VSF wheels I got from Mr Dewbakuk, but although I know roughly where they are, the exact location escapes me  >:(

John's stuff is lovely and I always try and visit his stall at Triples, so that will be my plan next year. That way the original wheels will then appear the day I get back and I will have two sets ready  ;)
