Adventures With Fur
« on: October 03, 2021, 09:27:30 PM »
My latest blog post describes the process I used to create a new ‘teddy bear’ fur mat, based on joining two Killing Fields mats.  Hopefully this will encourage me to crack on with some more pieces for the  #terraintober project on Twitter.  More pics and full description here: https://theviaregia.blogspot.com/2021/10/adventures-with-fur.html

Terrific thread and how-to blog link!

I've made a half-dozen TB mats, but with acrylic sprays, and then using lacquer thinner and towels to spread and blend (or lighten) the various colors, it works, but I like your hand-spreading technique demonstrated here - and as you say - it is also immense fun painting with you hands!  :-*

Here's perhaps a tip for roads and trails I've come up with, that's pretty easy to get good results with for creating crop field furrows, trails, or rutted dirt roads  - use a soldering iron to melt these features into the acrylic [plastic] mat.

Thanks, FlyXWire👍.  Some great looking fur from you there. I had a go at spraying but couldn’t make it work.  The soldering iron is a brilliant idea, and it’s a great effect. I love this sharing of ideas etc.

lovely looking work.

Cheers, Has.Been 👍
