Thanks folks!

I learned from having put names on the bases for my gangs from The Warriors for Mean Streets games, that it really helps players quickly sort out who's who and also get them much more engaged in the story telling aspect of the game.  That all carries over quite well into Silver Bayonet.

I agree about putting names on the bases.  Far better than my habit of only putting a little number on the base ( my bases are too thin being pennies)

One of the better GMs at the local con, goes so far as to photograph a fig, and then adds the pic  to the typeset stat card for the particular figure.  That really helps a newbie keep track of the fig’s qualities…knowing  that  guy whazizname with the black cloak and two pistols can still shoot twice with a glance at his card, sometimes without having to even keep the name in memory.

I do this as well. I agree it helps players who may be trying to balance learning the rules with learning their force. I even do it for unit games like Xenos Rampant.
