Alde Garde: An early medieval tower/keep/donjon in 28mm-part 2
« on: November 13, 2021, 11:31:45 PM »
I have build in balsa wood and polystereen based on plastic sheet a kind of early medieval tower which probably will be part of a kind of motte and bailey castle someday.
I had totally no experience in building model so it was a trial and error proces but I think it came out reasonably well.

First effort? That surprises me, this is really good.

Don't let this be a probably.
It's a great start that deserves finishing, even if not straight away, it's already inspiring to those of us with no experience in this corner of the hobby.

There are the remnants of an 11thC motte and bailey near me, it's nice to have something like this to look at and imagine.

Cheers

Very nice indeed

I'll add one to what has already been said.

There is (the Motte at least) near to me, in the
village of Brinklow (near Coventry) behind the
Church.  Your building would scale in well with
the Motte. It would have been difficult to storm,
hard enough to climb now-a-days without any one
lobbing things at you.

Thanks for all the kind words, much appreciated.
I forgot to mention that I did not know in the beginning how we would use the model; just as background or for skirmishing. So I made the tower in pieces with separate roof, floors (3) and detachable walls.
You can see this in the two pictures

Well, that just adds a few more layers of awesomeness on a building that already looked great! Hard to believe this is your first time constructing buildings for gaming. Great job!

Fantastic work even for somebody experienced with scratch building. You have every right to be proud.
