Mad Dogs with Guns: Saturday Night in Basin City
« on: November 21, 2021, 09:29:49 AM »
Our Mad Dogs with Guns campaign has been disrupted for the last 2 years due to all the lockdowns. So we renewed in with a big free for all game. Each gang had an invitation to an event and a business task that had to be completed. On the day of the game each gang received 3 tip-offs, street rumours about what may be going down. The main event was a party at the Bank of Balta, where the bank's president was showing off his new acquisition, an enormous uncut ruby. Notable community members and legitimate businessmen where in attendance, with protections near at hand.

Meanwhile, down at the docks, strange crates had been left awaiting pickup from the Yellow Dragon Tong. There was also an apparently abandoned truck left near chinatown.

The truck had been left there after Jack McCann's Bowery Rovers had finished using it in a "delivery" run. It needed to be returned to one of their protection clients, and McCann employed out of town mooks for the task to avoid the police making any links to his Rovers.

The Tong gang managed to leave their base and pickup the crate of poppy related goods, avoiding a near collision with McCann's boys driving their truck the other way.

Business was going on un-interrupted that evening, until the Bowery Rovers left the party early for some payback.

Rosie's Gentlemen's club had made McCann pay a high price to prevent scandalous photos of him reaching the newspapers. Now he had the photos and negatives, he and the boys payed Rosie back by riddling her establishment with tommy gun bullets. Madame Rosie herself barely escaped with her life. And Fat Tony's accountant was also shaken up, unable to complete his tax deductable business expense that night.

The police hadn't had a very successful night that night. They stopped and checked the only Truck that night that was not actually doing anything illegal. They got into a brawl with McCann's hired mooks (after they dropped off the truck and then spotted a poorly guarded crate of whiskey). The fight ended in a bloody draw. Both parties split the whiskey and went their separate way. The only police to do their job well that night were two beat cops, sent on a dud lead to inspect an old warehouse, then spotting a firefight between the Bowery Rovers and Fat Tony's boys (who were giving them payback for shooting up Rosie's and stealing the Whiskey!)
A canny constable shot Fat Tony's enforcer, Mr Friday, forcing him to withdraw back into his car. Two car explosions and several dead punks later, the police decided it was too much paperwork and slipped off into the night.

The Tong continued to move about town un-noticed, until they suddenly sprang into action. The ruby was the long lost Heart of the South Wind Dragon, stolen two centuries ago. The entire Tong gang moved in on the Bank of Balta.

After having some difficulty understanding the principle of a revolving door, they eventually stormed the bank.

McCann's and Tony's boys (and the police) were too battle fatigued that night to do much to stop them, so the Tong managed to pull off the heist and get away without suffering any casualties that night. It looks like they are becoming a major player in Basin City!

Thankyou.  :)
Each player painted their own gang, and it is always a pleasure to play games with fellows that appreciate its aesthetic nature as much as I do.

Very fun looking game with some nicely painted miniatures! :-* :-* I did not recognize the cargo ship that was also nicely done.
Got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight.

Amazing city layout. HUGE and well done to boot!

Who's the chap in the brown suit with a bowler hat in about the middle of this mob? I recognize every other figure in that shot but him!

Also had to laugh at the die in the case  lol

That's an excellent looking game,, the buildings and ship give it an impressive scale, it must be an interesting storage problem to house them all.  o_o

The figures look lovely especially the out of town mooks, it's an inspiring post.
Cheers

Great looking game.

How do you find the rules itself? I have to admit that finding out that I can easily end up needing 20+ bare handed/trash armed thugs in addition to pretty sizable gangs themselves - and that for quite a few scenarios - kind of put me off the rules, but I might have a wrong perspective.

The rules are good. You don't need quite that many models per side. Most of our gangs are about a dozen models at most. The campaign system (running rackets, building reputation etc..) is extensive, but we have only really played one off games so far.
