Edit (10:12:21): 'What if' Vimeiro 1808 - battle report part 3
« on: 29 November 2021, 08:14:20 PM »
I've just set up my first historical Peninsular scenario. Obviously I had to tinker with it by making it a 'What if'. Otherwise Vimeiro isn't really a game, IMHO.

Notes, OOBs, and more pics here:

Hope you likey.

Excellent set up, beautiful figures and terrain, really like how you have scaled the armies, practical and pleasing to the eye. Wonder if this would work for 40mm scale figures? (thinking of Barossa/Chiclana).

Great to see what you did with the battle. We will payed it as a multi player some years ago and I really enjoyed the French up hill battle. Seeing that you can put it up all by yourself is amazing and looking fantastic.

Re: Edit: 'What if' Vimeiro 1808 - solo battle report

I don't put time aside to play solo battles, preferring to dip in and out, as and when I can, over a week or two. Consequently, my solo games have a rather episodic quality. That is how I will report on progress too - if I leave it until the end I will have forgotten most of what happened by the end.

Last night I managed to find an hour to get the battle underway, and I managed to get quite a lot done. Here's the report on the start of the battle.

http://olicanalad.blogspot.com/2021/12/what-if-vimeiro-1808-battle-report-part.html

and a couple of pics from the report to whet your appetite.

Well done there.  Having visited your blog, I see the game hangs in the balance - well-executed British musketry, and those pesky French cavalry moving on the flanks.  It'll be interesting to see how the rest of this affair plays out...

So I've played two more (shortish) turns and the battle is reaching the crucial juncture. One or possibly two more sessions will settle the matter.

Report, blow by critical blow, with lot of pics here.
