I have started a new Silver Bayonet themed project; building a skirmish gaming board. For more information, see the Blog, but here are a few images of the work-in-progress.

With the foam glued in place and any gaps filled, I painted the whole board with some DULUX ENDURANCE paint and sprinkled on some stones and sand.

And with the paint fully dry, I added some gaming compound over PVA glue.

Looks interesting.  FWIW, most of the Silver Bayonet posts are up on the Gothic horror board rather than way down here in "Other" and you might have more comments if you moved the discussion to there.

Most of the Silver Bayonet posts are up on the Gothic horror board rather than way down here in "Other".

Thank you, I am aware but as my gaming interest is a Flintloque/Silver Bayonet cross over project, I find it more relevant to post here. I tried 'double posting' on the "Gothic" board some time ago and was told to stop.

Silver Bayonet is a game genre that could easily be posted on a variety of different boards and is therefore going to miss out - maybe there should be a dedicated Silver Bayonet board?

Thanks again,

Tony

Yeah, double-posting's a no-no on LAF.

It took me a while to figure out where people were talking about SB myself - like you said it could live on several different boards about equally well.  Doubt it'll get a child board somewhere unless it really takes off, but maybe there's room for something like a "Fantasy Historicals" board that could cover SB, Flintloque/Slaughterloo, Panzerfauste, etc.  Trick's getting enough traffic volume to really need it.

At long last some paint.

I have used a Dulux Matchpot to paint the basic Snakebite Leather colour in preparation for some drybrushing.

Painting has continued with lighter drybrushing.

My wife and I were out shopping in charity shops earlier this year and I saw a card table with a baise top and legs. It was just £20.00 but I thought a skirmish board would be earlier to use and store.

The latest update shows how I tinted the drybrushed surface with diluted washes applied with my airbrush.

Later I picked out individual stones with a grey, highlighted white mix, similar to the technique I use on my mini bases.

The table edges have been painted black and the whole board has been matt varnished in preparation for the flocking.

I have applied a mix of fine ground foam and dyed sawdust over PVA glue to the board.

Then added some static grass which was also applied over PVA glue.
