Hail Creaser Israel vs Philistines
« on: 12 December 2021, 08:25:17 PM »
Played a game of Hail Creaser with a friend using his Israel and Philistine armies. Had a load of and took a bunch of photos. Most the photos and a short write up can be found on my blog: https://wyndehurstproductions.blogspot.com/2021/12/hail-creaser-israel-vs-palestine.html

Israel with the Ark

Palestine with Goliath

Battle is joined.

How did you make that battle ‘cloth’?

What a great look battle. Hats off to your army choice. It’s not often that you see Israel and Philistine armies take on each other. Is that a Goliath model I see?

Cheers

Brilliant.

This looks like it could be the Battle of Ebenezer from 1 Samuel 4, when the Israelites take the Ark into battle against the Philistines.

The Israelites believed the Ark would give them some kind of magical advantage over their enemies (like a 'War Altar' from Warhammer) but they did this without YHWH's endorsement, and thus not only did they lose the battle, but the Philistines captured the Ark and kept it as a trophy in their own temple (for a very brief time).

Goliath could easily have been militarily active at that time, as this was before he encountered David in 1 Samuel 17.

Great looking game, sir!

But there‘s a pretty misleading typo in the header: shouldnt it read Philistines? Else I wouldn‘t expect to aee chariots o_o

The Roman name 'Palestine' derives from 'Philistine', so it still kinda works...

But technically, in this time period, it should be 'Philistia'.

I don‘t want to nitpick, but that is true for most modern nations. They take the name from some ancient region, but this does not mean they are in any way related (i.e. Germans (the ancient ones) and Germany, Franks and France, Russiand and Rus).

Anyway: Great looking game!

You make a very good point, and I see the OP changed the thread title!

What a great looking game with beautiful armies. Thanks for you and your friend’s write ups.
