Chapter 5 - The Tomb of Skulls
« on: September 28, 2009, 04:44:10 PM »

Here are a few pictures of a new scearnio we were trying out this weekend...

Turn #1 -

(above - Yip Pang and his raiders are seen entering the Tomb of Skulls.)

Turn #2 -

(above - Fingers and Sang move to retrieve a journal fragment, Fook and Jimmy check the wall glyphs in the center, and Yip heads for the long hallway with Joe following close behind.)

Turn #3 -

(above - Sang turns to fight an attack from behind, as Yip and Joe run into some trouble of their own deeper in the tomb.)

Turn #4 -

(above - Yip Pang reaches the statue and retrieves the lost key while his pirates try to hold off the tomb horrors.)

With the key in hand, Yip continues on, searching the dark tomb for the ancient altar and its forgotten treasures...

THANKS!

I like the scythebot in the first picture.  What is that?

Heya Froggy -- the scythebot is a pre-painted plastic figure made for a sci-fi game called AT-43 - it's a Storm Arachn. I think it has a suitably pulp feel, although I would eventually like to repaint it.

Thank-you, I will have to look for those. Care to share how this table terrain was put together so?

These tiles are mounted on 1/8" vinyl floor tiles (12"x12"). The bricks are cut from Dow's blue extruded styrofoam. Before anything was glued together, it was just laid out loosely for a sanity check --

I plan on making two more of these... eventually.  :)

This is really great! I love the simplicity of the design and it certainly looks just great once painted. I'm much impressed (and really relieved about how easy it is to make...). Thanks for sharing.

And it's inexpensive! All total these were made of stuff I had lying about anyway. But even so, the materials would probably cost less than $5 USD per tile.

Cheap and easy are my areas of expertise... just ask my ex-wives!   :)

THANKS!

We had a lot of fun doing some more playtesting in the tomb. In the first game, pictured below,  Josh's adventurers started off fairly well but it was not long before the traps and zombies took their toll. Finally, all alone, suffering from injuries, and being chased by the Taker-of-Heads, his leader somehow managed to reach the Altar of Skulls and retrieve the Golden Tablet...
