Age of Eagles question
« on: 26 January 2022, 06:57:33 PM »
Men,

I love AoE; it is the only Nappy game I play now. But I have several rules questions that I need help with.

The rule book (which I got signed by Bill)(I'm a total geek), only refers to units as 'brigades' and there are no combat or melee illustrations that feature cavalry. The biggest question is: can a 'brigade' of cavalry act as a supported line for infantry in melee? For that matter can it count incidental stands?

I know I have more questions but can't think of any right now. (I think I included a photo but not sure.)

Thanks,
Steve

The group I often game with in Ottawa play a lot of Age of Eagles and they said they had never come across that situation and if they did they would not allow the cavalry to act as a supporting line.
They regularly game with Bill Gray at HMGS conventions but you could ask the question on the AoE group page.

Don't play AoE and presume it best to follow what the others do, but I do recall Wellington posting cavalry behind his hard-pressed infantry late in the battle of Waterloo. Not sure if they were support or a threat against running away.
And the glorious general led the advance
With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss
