The Rammas Echor in 28mm
« on: 02 October 2009, 12:21:17 PM »
Following on from the fortified bridgehead at Osgiliath, the latest large scenery project nears completion... The Rammas Echor, the wall circuit that enclosed the Pelennor Fields that didn't make it into the Peter Jackson films. I've drawn my inspiration from Hadrians Wall. When complete I'll have 6 feet of continuous rampart, a couple of breached sections, three towers/bastions of varying designs, the main gatehouse and causeway approaches and of course the lighthouse (for the Harlond - the main harbour for Minas Tirith)

Thankfully I have an indulgent boss at work who allows my scenery to take over the windowsill.

If that's what madness is, then what do I need to do to get it.  lol

That is excellent. Do you plan to use the bridgehead and Pellenor Fields wall on the same board (I realize that would require a good 20' of gaming space, but it would look awesome.

I'd love to have the space to set it all up, but realistically I can probably only run to setting up separate scenarios. It would be great if a London club were to take pity on me and use it for a large fantasy demo game when its all done...! ;D :D

Do the roofs lift off?

The roofs do not lift off on any of my models. My hat goes off to those who do model the internals of buildings. I find it challenging enough to design and model the externals in detail. My buildings are more for show but wall walks, towers etc have been designed with the placing of figures in mind. It is a relatively simple matter though to work out who is where for gaming purposes.

Since this was posted the Rammas project has been revived. It will now run to 12 feet long and be the centrepiece of the London Gamers demo game at Salute 2011.
One of two wall bastions that will feature

An early shot of the WIP artillery bastion

and finished all bar some minor detailing

Mural tower

6 breached wall sections - 4 with removable centre sections

I missed this first time round - really impressive stuff. I'm not wearing a hat, if I were I'd remove it.
