Tonttu!!! That's Finnish for a gnome type creature, Swedish form is tomte, I believe... a sort of home-spirit, likes to live in the Sauna. That kind of fellow. This is almost as good as the Ancient Art of Teräskäsi in Star Wars!

Nasty looking (in a good way) bunch of not-Gretchins anyways. How tall are they in mm?

The weird part is that a Santa's elf is also called "tonttu". Therefore some gamers use the same word for all elves, especially Tolkien-style fantasy elves, as a jest. (The proper translation of those would be "haltia", if anyone's interested.)

So these are actually sci-fi elves.

Oh, yeah. And it also should be added that when you describe a person being a little 'tonttu' in Finnish, he's being a little daft or stupid.

But I think in Finnish tradion Santa's 'elves' are more like grumpy old men with long beards, and not those prancing & gay persons dressed in green (like they seem to be in the US/UK Christmas tradition?)
