Looking for plastic soldiers using Ak-47
« on: March 13, 2022, 08:48:00 PM »
Preferably in a set where you can put arms and heads on the soldiers and hopefully one where the models hold the guns already. I looked at lots of Soviets boxed sets but they almost all had regular rifles and worse sometimes their hands were empty and you had to put rifles into their hands.

I am thinking of converting them into undead legionares so what kind of uniform they have dont matter.

The old Wargames Factory Survivors set had six AKs moulded to arms and another six AKs by themselves.

Warlord still sells the Project Z special forces figures. They have a wide variety of weapons, so worth checking if there's an AK47 in there

Most of the AK wielders I can think of are resin/metal or 3D prints...can't think of any (outside of the aforementioned) in plastic.

I am thinking the same thing. Looks like "guys in uniform with AK's" has not gotten a plastic kit yet.

Well, Rubicon will be producing a set of NVA, so uniforms, AKs.

I suppose you could use almost any surplus soldier body and add left over arms/weapons.  The Frostgrave Cultist set has a selection of "undead" heads and body parts thus if you have the StG44s as imitation AK-47s a box of Cultists would give you a force of ragged undead soldiers.  Depends how picky you are abot the weapons.  Incidentally the WW2 MG42 is virtually identical to the current MG3.

I used ragged Frostgrave cultists armed with surplus Warlord WW2 German assault rifles (StG44) to make a force for my Zona Alfa games.
These are cultist bodies, WW2 Russian heads and WW2 German (and some other) weapons

These frostgrave cultist conversions look great!

Just in case you want to know what's on the project z sprues:
https://www.warlordgames.com/project-z-gang-diagrams/

The AK's on the survisors sprue look like the classic AK-47's
The ones on the specops sprue are modern versions (I guess AK-74's with carbine stock)

Those conversions are really cool and a great idea!
Are their arms and ak's from the Z sprues?

Well, Rubicon will be producing a set of NVA, so uniforms, AKs.
Do you know when?

Not sure but I think they are due out this year. They showed off the sculpts sometime at the start of last year IIRC.
