Metal Ranges Compatible with Black Tree WW2 Italians
« on: March 23, 2022, 12:47:17 PM »
I have some Black Tree Italians in need of LMGs and mortars etc.  Wondered which manufacturer is most compatible?

Perry Miniatures perhaps? I don't have a direct comparison with the Perry and Black Tree Italians, but I do have some of Black Tree's WWII figures and they seemed smaller than Warlord's range.

Otherwise Warlord's older Italian metals may work better than their newer plastics. And I get the impression that all of Wargames Atlantic WWII plastics have similar proportions to Warlord's plastics - based on their WWI German figures.

I find that Bolt Action mix very well with Black Tree. They just came out with a new boxed set of Italian infantry.

No I haven't! A friend of mine has a large force of Americans from Empress and they seemed a bit smaller? Anyway  I will still be getting the HMG from Empress as I like the model and I can't find anyone else who does one for the standard Italian army.

Perry and Empress Italians mix very well.

Here are some of mine :

Those with regiment badge on the helmet are Perry ones, and the others are Empress.

Thanks very much for that.

I am finding Black Tree are more chunky than Perry. I will just have to live with it though as I get the impression Empress and Warlord are similar to Perry.

If Crusader did Italians they would be ideal. The sculpting seems the same.

Have you seen the "Alpini" troops from Studio Historia ?

Same sculptor as the Italians from JJG Print, and he will work on a full italian range in the coming months (I especially wait for some Besaglieris, even motorcycle squads)

Finally someone who gets the Alpini hat almost right. Wargames atlantic has done a quasi-decent job but this one looks a lot better!
