28mm Maori Pa
« on: 10 April 2022, 11:51:48 PM »
28mm Maori Pa c.1845 approaching completion thanks to a far more talented man than me! The outer fence needs painting, together with some destroyed stockade sections and civilians.

4’ x 2’ scratchbuilt modular base, main stockade and huts 3D printed from printablescenery.com, outer fence from Irongate Scenery, 28mm figures from Empress and Eureka

For those on FB, more photos and a wealth of information on playing this fascinating period using several different rule sets can be found at the “Wargaming the New Zealand Wars” group

A lovely piece of work there. Have you based it on any particular pa/s?

Not any one in particular, though Ruapekapeka in 1846 had a particular influence plus inspiration from other illustrations found online and in the Osprey book. All the stockade sections and the huts are removable and the 6 ground sections can be laid out in several ways for maximum variety and ease of storage.

It’ll usually be used along one table edge as shown (or half the depth) but at some point I want to produce another 3 trench/stockade sections so I’ve got the possibility of having a complete 4’ x3’ centrepiece for a game.

Best ones on the market. Which is fortunate as I suspect they are also the only ones on the market.

Yes, I did Ruapekapeka at the end of my 4th Form year. I can quite easily imagine the bomb proof shelters under the huts. I wound up being tapped to climb down into one to show scale in the photos  :D

If you can find the sketches how about making an artillery position with the Empress carronade? It is based on the one still at Ruapekapeka.
