Space Marine Color Test
« on: May 27, 2022, 03:43:08 AM »
I tested out a color scheme for the space marines I have sitting around.

I like this red and blue scheme better than the green and black one I started 10+ years ago.  Its not visible, but I am going to use the Black Templar cross decals and name my chapter Knights Errant.  I need to practice edge highlighting a bit and I need to be more patient with the micro set/micro sol to get the decals flat on the shoulder pads.

Not that bad looking as Space Marines go. Just a suggestion but I think it might look a little more symmetrical if the whole right leg was blue same as the right arm. Of course I could be totally wrong too. Just throwing it out there. Either way, thanks for sharing and looking forward to seeing where you go with this.

Edit - And maybe instead of the green edge the red shoulder pad with blue and the blue with red.

They look nice & bright. You have to paint them your own way.
Be ready for comments from opponents across the table though.
When the New England Patriots still played in red, never understood
that but loved the team, I painted the Marines I then had in what
I thought was a wonderful homage to them & splinter camo.
i.e. White armour with splintered red over the top. Each Marine had
the name & number of a Patriot's player lovingly applied.
For their first game at the club I proudly put them on the table, only
to be greeted with the shout, 'Hurr, Raspberry Ripples!!!!'  :'(

I finally got around to testing up a few more marines, this time without the green on the shoulder pads.  I still need some edge hi-lighting practice.

I also spent some time this summer stripping the old paint and primer off my army.  Now the reinforced company is primed red for the new color scheme.

A good effort to get that many figures rehabilitated - well done! Your colour scheme reminds me a little of the Brazen Claws.
