Ah, now I was down at Lamorna just a few weeks ago, and that shed does look a bit like the boathouse where they now run the kayaking from!

And glad to hear you're going for coffee stirrers for planking.

Apart from the mini series it's worth looking for the documentary about the making of the series - includes (if I remember properly) interviews with set designers etc.

I need to start drinking more coffee I used up my total store of coffee stirrers on my build. (a grand total of 2)

Go with idea 3) but around the groove you cut in the base of the harbour glue some tree moss/Scotchbright pad to make a small bush that can move slightly up and down to accomodate the change in river/lake bank size thus hide any little gaps.
