Games workshop’s contrast paint - Commando

Anyone use contrast paint? It really makes it easy to complete large units quite quickly.

Yup!  I’m a big fan.

I found videos from Sonic Sledgehammer with examples of US & German late war troops using Contrast, and got platoons of both painted up in very short order.

Your commandos look great!

Since I keep cluttering up my paint desk, I've been using children's flip-top craft paints as wet palettes (they also force me to mix paints), so tried a drop of ink in the paint (no mixing, dip the brush into the ink, as you paint, you can put more paint on the brush for opacity) and seeing how it behaves on some miniatures. Results are pretty promising -- I have no interest in painting 20 miniatures of this detail conventionally.

This guys look great!

I've thought about trying those contrast paints, but I have way too many bottles of 'regular' paint in my paint reserve...

Thanks for the info about the paints. I have most of those, so I may give that recipe a try!

CapnJim, I thought that too. I have loads of regular paint but after trying the Contrast I switched. Even though the contrast is far more watery than regular paint it is much easier to control. It does not run and sticks to the figure a completely different painting experience. Also Contrast paints can work with regular paint and even be mixed with regular acrylic paints to creat dozens of hybrid colors.

Still looking good!

One of my regular wargaming chums swear by the contrast paints - I may yet end up giving them a go...
