My Mexican Revolution Town scratchbuilds
« on: 06 October 2022, 05:51:21 PM »
Mom (Mexican) always wanted me to do a Mexican game.

Well, we had a hurricane, two days of real bad weather, so I started the town of Rio del Cono.

Also have two 20 man units of foot villistas painted up.  My grandfather in Mehico actually met Pancho Villa when he was 8.

Reigning USTA Florida, and National 50+ Singles Champion  (tennis)  TWO Time Florida 50+ Singles Champion!  Just won State 2019!

Nice.

I have two Mexican style towns - one with a variety of building sources and the other entirely from Peter Pig's Mexican Revolution range of buildings (well, a couple of other Peter Pig Old West buildings given the southwest USA locale).  Going to have to think how to personalize my towns so it isn't so obvious where they came from.

Those are just super. I love the details and the exposed adobe brick where the adobe plaster has flaked off. Great stuff!

Rhey came out dark after wash, because I made them under candlelight, lol.  (No electricity).  I can always drybrush lighter....

My system of a 50/50 pva water coat really protects, and allows you to change shade/color easily.  You can pastel powder, and wipe it off if you want a change, lol

With interiors, it's hard to make "low" buildings...damn Sombreros and that famous old glory high at arms pose need a 2" headroom, lol

They do look good, I like the rounded tops of the walls rather than the more normal square edged builds. I think you answered one of my questions because I've always believed the adobe buildings were either white washed or just mud brick which would probably be brownish. Yours's are quite grey but if you intend to drybrush presumably you expect they should be lighter? ie whitewashed.

What did you produce the walls from and have you done interiors yet? I'd be interested in seeing the interior construction details if you could post pictures.

I've been thinking of doing adobe buildings for years using foamboard but think it might be too regular in appearance for essentially hand built mud brick structures.

Use either Blue Insulation Foam or Cork Wall Tiles. Both can give a more
'crumbly' look than the starched & Ironed look of MDF & Foamboard.

Regardless, I love the contrast; they look great.
