Don’t start a jihad…
« on: October 18, 2022, 07:19:34 AM »
Good morning
Please excuse the mess
Round or square? Thoughts?
Please don’t get ‘triggered’ just can’t decide whether to rank them up or leave them loose and skirmish?
Must be my age….
Cheers all

I refer them as the first picture with the round shield, rather than the second picture with the round shield!!!!  ;D ;D ;D
If it isn't enjoyable, it isn't gaming!

It's a hard call. I tend to lean toward circle because, in the paraphrased words of Sean Sutter, "Circles look more organic when basing."

There are those who seek knowledge to be known by others; that is Vanity.

There are those who seek knowledge in order to serve; that is Love.”

I like the "3-2-1" basing style.
1 single figure on 25mm round base.
2 figures on a 30mm round base
3 figures on a 40mm round base.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

Perhaps change the thread title if you want some genuine replies since it is nothing to do with the question you ask

Round or square depends on what you want to do with the figures.  Round is more flexible since you can get a movement tray with round cut outs to rank them up if that is also something you also want to do.  So slightly more work and you couldn't bunch them up quite as tightly as say 20 mm squares.

Personally all the rest of my fantasy are on squares so no way am I changing them now.

I am exclusively a skirmisher so always go with round.

It is all down to personal taste.  I switched to round years ago and am not inclined to go back as I am not inclined to re-base.  I also do not play big regiment games.

My dilemma is not so much square vs circle as it is bases with multiple figures or single figure basing. o_o

Definitely round, far more attractive and versatile.

Probably a decent suggestion.

I prefer 25mm round. You can still rank them up in square (2 x 2 figures) or rectangular (2 x 3 figures) bases (without having curcles cut into them) and still use figures for skirmish games. That's what I have done.

If there's any chance at all they'll be ranked up, of go with square.
