New painted retinue for Lion Rampant (Updated 10/31/22)
« on: 30 October 2022, 07:10:11 PM »
Hello. I think these are my first pictures on the forum. I just painted these 12 minis up in a few hours and figured I'd show them here. They're intended to be any of the 12 model infantry for LR. Definitely painted to a 3-feet-away standard ;). I figured it's better to actually paint them a little messily instead of not paint them at all. Going for a burgundy/cream color scheme with these guys. I attached some pretty shoddy pictures lol (Also any tips for brigandine? I found that to be the hardest to paint...)

They look good to me
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Nice work! Are you planning more figures for the LR force?

With the brigandines I tend to paint the main part of them first, then dot in the studs afterwards but kind of roughly so that it doesn't take hours and hours to do, then once that's done I'll go in with a fine brush and paint round the studs to clean up any spillover onto the brigandine itself with my base colour, seeing as it'll already be slightly shaded, if that helps!

Also, mixing in the Agincourt body was a nice touch too!

Thank you,
Yes I am. I have a 6 miniature men-at-arms unit with my leader in it painted up that I will post shortly. I think on the painting block right now I have a unit of 12 Perry handgonners (to use in game as crossbowmen) and some mounted units. Good tips on the brigandine, I pretty much just left out the "clean up" part because it was a bit tedious but I'll give it a shot for my other ones.

Here is the leader of the retinue, a painted up version of Bad Squiddo Game's Jeanne De Clisson. Her men at arms are 4 VnV HYW minis with the flag and shields, and a Perry HYW mini to round out the unit to 6. Still unbased like the others and the banner needs to be finished but they're close enough to done.
