This is a mini commissioned by the creator of the Famous by Our Swords rules. The setting is heavily influenced by Irish mythology and while personally Im more of a modeller than a gamer, I found them really interesting. The character is supposed to be more or less a Roman officer with abit of a fantasy twist. It was also required to wear a face mask helmet. He is supposed to be the leader of a mercenary band confronting his employers who need some ''encouragement'' to pay for rendered services.
I went for a pretty much historical scaled armor with pteryges but augmented with fantasy elements like a demi-thorax decorated with a Solar symbol (they are supposed to worship the Sun God), and a flamberge radiant crest. For the helmet I drew inspiration from the Roma auxiliary cavalry parade masks. Most of them appear to have a hellenistic aesthetic, so I added Alexander-like hair strands and sideburns on the helmet with laurels on top.
There are plans for the production of the miniature in the near future, so stay tuned. You can find more details about the Famous by Our Swords rules here: https://ko-fi.com/s/8f3371f9c4 and here: https://www.instagram.com/eoinmcminis/

I will also post later the creative process from a quick sketch to armature and final result.

A very cool sculpt.

In a couple of photos he does look a little off-balance, with his foot on the heads, it might just be the camera angle, or the blu-tack holding the pose. But might be worth something just checking in person?

Dude looks pretty metal. Get a fantasy Roman fallower of Sol Invictus vib about him.
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Love it!

The severed heads beneath his foot are amazing: it's a perfect juxtaposition between 'classical' and 'barbaric'.
Between the idea
And the reality
Between the motion
And the act
Falls the Shadow

The Roman/ barbarian juxtaposition fits - historical Romans were no strangers to imposing barbarity on pretty well anyone who got in their way… some of the stuff they got up to, such as mass crucifixions, makes Celtic headhunting look tame in comparison.

I got the first sample of the resin casts, and I have to say that Im very happy. They turned out really good! No bent sword, practically no mold lines.

Beautiful details on those castings! It’s a cool idea for the figure, too, the Roman/ fantasy crossover.
