Lovely work!  :) I can't help but note how shiny the decals on the shields are... Would a thin coat of matte medium or matte varnish be something worth considering perhaps?

I don't know... I'm afraid of damaging the decals....

Maybe a Lead adventure Forum's member has a solution....

Well, if you're concerned then just try a little matte medium thinned with some clean water.

You can also use Citadel's Lahmian Medium, or their Contrast Mixing Medium, or Army Painter's Wash Medium.

All these are is essentially "blank" paint - i.e., no pigment. So they are transparent, especially when applied thinly, and have a nice matte finish.

They don't offer any protection like varnish if course, but they are useful for unifying different finishes, and are "supposed" to be mixed into washes and paints to make them more translucent.

If painting over decals causes them no harm, then the medium will also be fine! ;)

Hello and thanks Major_Gilbear,

I will try Citadel's Lahmian Medium on the decals.

I learned the hard way with using Daler Rowney Matt varnish on LBMS shield transfers so what I did in the end was coat the shields with Citadel storm shield varnish, let it set for a few days then coated over with my usual acrylic Matt varnish. Hope this helps

Excellent! I love the variety in each of your rebel slaves units, they’re all so visually interesting.

Simple and effective method with decals, bung on a coat of Vallejo gloss varnish, leave overnight, then matt 'em with your varnish of choice.
