Everyone’s favorite Magic Turk, Ali from Iliada Studios, has teamed up with a neighbor to begin to produce a line of 3D printed and resin cast 2mm scifi miniatures that are very reminiscent of the old Homeworld game.
The complete line is on Iliada’s website now, with a 20% discount if you order by the end of November.
I recently received a couple of the biggest models: the mobile bases. At 120-150mm in length, these things are absolute units! Don’t do 2-3mm, you say? Don’t worry: they also work for 6mm and even — pushing it - 10mm. There are no external size references on them, in any case, so you can make the be what you want to.
The casting on these is crisp and relatively error free. There are still some small production issues they are knocking out (tertiary armament gun barrels, for example, need reinforcing), but no show stoppers.
If you ever wanted to play land dreadnoughts and were upset that DP9’s kickstarter didn’t make it, this is for you!
There is no dedicated ruleset for these yet, but the boys are working on one. I have seen the beta edition and it is quite interesting and fast play! There’s sort of a Eurogame vibe to it, like GW’s old Space Fleet and it looks like it will be very good for massed battles on a desert planet where huge landships slip over the dune seas.
Here’s a shot of my first “mobile base”, now completely painted, with the second one well underway. Also note that I have changed the turret mixes of the two mobile base models currently available to better reflect my own views of these monsters.
Yes, that’s a modified First Order Transport by Matchbox next to the big boys.
I will update this thread periodically as my project advances.
