Napoleonic science fiction?
« on: April 24, 2014, 12:09:52 PM »
I was toying with a pyran dragoon imperial guard army.just to mess around with at home
But whilst googling I came across references for flintlocks on barsoom and sharpe in space.
So I am considering doing something similar ,with the english army with Martian helpers fighting another country over mineral? Rights/terrority and a seperate martian species savage warlike and upset about the foreign invaders.
I'm going to be using front rank miniatures for English with flintloque elves as their help
And possibly using lotr hunter orcs as the savage Martians.
I have started to convert hunter orcs with Victrix napoleonic rifles.
I just wondered if anyone done similar and suggestions for english cavalary mounts.
Most my miniature choice is because I have them in the loft  lol

You might want to consider these figures from Meridian Miniatures:

I remember those.i was going to use front rank as they are cheap, :D
The rest I already have, including some voystroyans that could be my opposite Russian army .

There is a Martian beast of burden here : http://tinminis.com/catalog/?cata=1000&id=15

Otherwise, assuming you don't want to use horses, some sort of dinosaur - such as Games workshop dark elf cold ones - always work well in my opinion, though are perhaps more suited to Venus than Mars...

Pictures, please! Also, someone on here did some great Prussian minis with LoTR wargs as mounts; perhaps try a search if that interests you.

Just out of curiosity, have you read any of the Temeraire series by Naomi Novik? I've not, myself, but the cover blurb suggests the era, though I don't think you mentioned a Nappy air force of dragons...

Clicking on the image corrects it. I like what I'm seeing here.
