Khurasan releases 30s pulp adventure range
« on: December 13, 2022, 06:52:46 PM »
Khurasan Miniatures are very pleased to release our first codes of heroes and villains in our 15mm 1930s pulp adventure range, “Adventures on Cobra Island.”
https://khurasanminiatures.tripod.com/15mm-pulp.html

We’ve released a set of intrepid adventurers, evil Nazis, and freighter crew. The jungle reptile monster and gigantic ape are now available separately as well.

Very nice,   this may be part of a future order if I can get painting again.

Nice looking models.

So glad those are finally available! I was waiting for that freighter crew to put on the tramp steamer I'm making since February!

Just placed a nice pulp order from Khurasan, hoping it will get here before Christmas so I can get started on them. Seems like this holiday season I will be terrain building more stuff for my pulp campaign!

Uh-oh!  Did my wallet just say ouch?  Sure sounded like it.

Okay, not that bad an amount for what I want out of what has been released - so far.  But I'm guessing there will be more.
And then there is that scouring the Khurasan site for what else might work with these.  Can't help but do that, now can I?

So, let's get that inevitable request list going.  Oh, all right, I'll start.

More ships crew figures - some unarmed, please.
(Do you already have a 1920's movie crew somewhere else in your ranges?)
And this era screams out for more females - armed and not, damsels in distress, and cunning vixens armed to the teeth, etc.

Really glad to see the Big Ape with the starlet by itself.  Just can't justify the dinosaur for me - Skull Island not withstanding.

I guess it is time to disappear over the horizon...I mean go visit Khurasan.

Keep that request list going folks!  It annoys the heck out of manufacurers and sometimes even results in things getting made we want!   o_o lol

And Bad Penny (a new alias?) returns.  Well, that didn't take long.  Not much else to adapt - some WWII German desert war figures under the historical side and on the same side there are the Chaco War figures, especially the Paraguayans but maybe the Bolivians, too.  At least very much 'in period'.

Who knows where I can get a suitable nice 15 mm Tramp Steamer?  Or will I be 'reduced' to scratch building or kit bashing my own?  I'm guessing suitable trucks won't be quite so hard to find, cars maybe a bit more so.

The great dilemna:  How to make the 1930s work with my other stuff - well, I do have plenty of Prohibition era gangster stuff, will have to pull it out again.  Hmm.

Hmmm, bad Khurasan, very, very bad Khurasan.  Making trouble yet again.  What was that saying the late John Lewis popularized, from his mother I think, something about "good trouble"?

For the - we need that figure list - Leon Rom of Legends of Tarzan infamy.  And then a bunch of Force Publique hoodlums and native supports, too.  And Chief Mbonga and his tribe.  I know, I know, not really 1930s but something like that would be super cool.

Definitely need 1930s US Army and Marines, though.

Great news! I’ve been hoping for that since you teased them on Facebook.

I wonder if Khurasan will ever release "character" packs similar to what Peter Pig does in their western range (and a few other places)?  The packs usually have mounted, foot, and dead versions of the same figure.

Don't need exactly the same for Pulp but would be great to have something similar.  Say a woman dressed for a nightclub, dressed for outdoor adventures, and either as a forlorn and desperate captive or perhaps in full seductive mode (way more that a nightclub dress sort of thing).  Same for some male characters.

Who knows if it will ever happen but it would be cool and more than tempting.

Still haven't pulled the trigger on my order for these cool figures - still vacillating about just what to add and still try to keep the order within reason.

Pulled the trigger!  Ordered all but the dinosaur thingy.  Ordered two sets of the ships crew.  Added in some British Zulu war items and some WWI Germans.

Now, a real and true need is for a portly, if not outright rotund, German officer; see The African Queen and Shout at the Devil movies for proper inspiration.  Said officer should be suitable for colonial era in Africa.

My order received today and the sculpts look good, nice and clean and crisp.  Always good to order when molds are new.

But with a new scenario idea for the big ape, I am regretting not ordering some figures from the Chaco wars range for local forces of Honduras.  Might not be correct but the game is just a wholesale shenanigans so they will fit right in.  Off to see how much more damage I can do to my wallet!   ::)

Lots of 28-32mm folks wish you'd do them in the bigger size as well.   ;)

Never said to NOT do 15's.  But when addicted to lead*, no amount is too small, or to large.  New lines, new figures, old classics, some "no idea who made these..."

* "lead" of course refers to actual lead figs, other metal ones, plastic, resin, what have you.  Did I miss any?   ;)
