15mm Early Kingdom Hebrews?
« on: December 14, 2022, 08:18:16 AM »
This search is for my nephew.  Who makes 15mm Hebrews from around the time of David to the time of Ahab?  Thanks

Dan

Have you perhaps looked at Magister Militum? They have a reasonable range of 15mm Biblical-period miniatures, which includes various figures for early and late period Hebrew armies.

Personally, I don't think Magister Militum's so-called "Hebrews" really offer much.

They have "Early Hebrew" and "Late Hebrew" categories, but in terms of actual available miniatures, those categories are largely populated by 'proxy' figures from other tribes and nations that aren't really convincing.

What I recommend is Essex Miniatures' 15mm Biblical range:

https://www.essexminiatures.co.uk/collections/15mm-ancient-biblical

They have plenty of units which could be convincingly Hebrew from the specified era, such as Amorites, Arameans, Elamites, Canaanites, Midianites, Hurri-Mitanians and even, best of all, Generic Irregular Infantry.

Copied from my post on The Wargames Website

To be honest I don’t think we have enough information on what they looked like for “accurate” depiction of Early Hebrew armies – for pretty much any value of accurate. Coupled with the possibility that the tribes all differed in dress means the world is your oyster.
Magister Militum’s Chariot Miniatures range has suggestions of figures to use, just tick the relevant boxes on the left of their screen to get a page and a bit of plausible options.

As far as I remember Essex don’t have specific Early Hebrew figures either but plenty of plausible options there too  - 15mm Ancient: Biblical
Museum Miniatures have a couple of specifically Judean and of Aramean figures plus others that would do that are ostensibly something else.

Worth checking out EBay too, Historicals, especially those under 28mm scale tend to be dirt cheap in my experience.
Hope that helps

There are 100 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary and those who can work from incomplete data.

When I was looking for 15mm ancients I couldn't find Forged in Battle ancient minis in the UK. Anyone know if they are available over here and I missed them?

I think they are part of Westwind Productions, who are a UK company, although their websites are completely separate, so I'm not 100% sure on that. Same contact details and staff at both though! ???

In any case, the ancients are part of their War & Empire range under the Forged in Battle banner: https://www.forgedinbattle.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=126  ;)

Thanks Major_Gilbear, clearly my google-fu is weak. I could only find US sites for them.

Have diverted to 2mm figures and Strength and Honour rules instead of 15mm skirmish, for the moment but good to know none the less.

Some of these guys (Canaanites/Bedouins) would also make great Hebrews:
