As a collector of many sorts of music, I can share plenty of moody ambient recommendations. If you're new to the genre, you should get Rich & Lustmord's
Stalker. It's a landmark album, naturally inspired by
the book and
the film. Beautiful and mildly disturbing at the same time. Equally good for background music and close listening.
Unsurprisingly, HPL references are common in the genre. For example, you can try
this one. It's seriously intense stuff. Their second CD was fine too.
Then a few recent picks I've enjoyed. Various themes, but appropriate for other contexts too because they're all instrumental and quite abstract:
