Aberdeen Militia 1639 [28 mm]

Hi folks,

Phew! Just managed to scrape another hobby objective over the line before the New Year: Completing this unit, representing the two companies of the Aberdeen Militia that accompanied the young Viscount Aboyne and his Scots Royalist army in the march against the Convenanters at Megray Hill in June 1639.

My ambition is to build all of Aboyne’s force, which includes the first iteration of the famous Strathbogie Regiment. However, fitting this around various sci fi and fantasy projects makes it a long term objective, for sure!

I’m hoping to trial some different painting techniques in 2023, which I hope will make this project one that might truly be completable. Happy New Year everyone!

Cracking work on them, they look really good, hoping to see more of this project next year as it interests me a lot. :)

@Emir of Askaristan - Glad to represent the loyalist North East  ;). This was my first attempt at a banner, I was rather pleased with the result. Much inspiration was drawn from the amazing guys from Project Auldearn.
