Very nice. Now if I've understood my Northstar news letter correctly I should be able to get some of these for £1 a piece on the weekend of the 23rd along with some of Mr Copplestones naval brigade  :)

Puts me in mind of Jim Bowen's style of painting. Especially the stuff he did for Foundry and the Perry's.

Nice paint jobs on the figures.  But 10 hours is a speed paint!?  :o. For 12 figures?!   :-I

In six hundred minutes, I'd expect to get out closer to 100 figures - granted in 15 mm and no where near as good as these but good enough.  But if that is speed painting, I'd throw the lot in the bin and move on to some other hobby.

Of course, there were quotes around that speed painting in the OP so maybe a bit of irony intended?

Having said all that, I will gladly use the paint job as inspiration for some of my own figures.

I think that's the key. 10 hours to paint those figures would certainly be speed-painting for me. It's all a question of what your motivation is. I'm not interested in cranking out as many figures as I can in the shortest space of time. My enjoyment and satisfaction in the hobby comes from knowing I've painted each and every figure as well as I possibly can, and for me that takes time.

Each approach is equally valid. I guess some people can do both, but I know I can't, so I made a choice and I'm happy with it.

Nick and Plynkes, valid responses but I caved to "crank 'em out" when I realized how many figures I need/want to get painted, it is a very big number and working for me so far.  Not to say I wouldn't like to have the skill to do like these but, for me, I just don't have that level of patience so my approach works for me.  That and, for me, it is much more about the game on the table than the individual figure.

I'm with nick on this one..... if one looks at Kev's "normal" standard it is beyond excellence. These miniatures whilst not up to Kev's highest standards are still obviously extremely well executed but I expect that if Kev had gone for broke in terms of quality they would have taken a lot more than 10 hours.

Speed painting is all relative.

"Speed-painting" for me would be getting a single figure done, to tabletop standard, in a single day!
