Wow! Those armies really give a great mass battle impression! I love what you have put together.

Thanks. Next stage is to do some more Arab types to fill out the Seljuks in Syria and Iraq. I want to have a go at the Battle of Tel Bashir at some point too.

Some more Arabs. Might have enough to do Tell Bashir now.

Thanks. It's probably more trouble thinking up different designs than actually painting them.

Mick at Leven Miniatures very kindly made me some more castle walls, which arrived today. Shown here with the completed walls. I think that's a lifetime's supply now. This would enclose 25 town tiles. I have so far done 9...

Incidentally, Mick has kept the moulds for the castle range, possibly with a view to selling sets on Ebay. The rest of the Leven range have now gone to Battlescale.

That’s good to know, it was a shame they were unavailable.  All looking great as usual.

Set up for the Battle of Tell Bashir, 1108. One of the strangest battles of the Crusades saw 2 armies each composed of allied Christian and Muslim forces fight each other. A mere 9 years after the fall of Jerusalem, the crusading Franks had become enmeshed in the intricate and cut-throat politics of the Seljuks. Tancred, regent of Antioch was allied with Ridwan, Emir of Aleppo, while Jawali, atabeg of Mosul was allied with Baldwin Count of Edessa.

Reconstructing the battle is a bit tricky, given the scarcity of detail in the sources, so there's some creative licence involved to fill in the gaps.

Wow, that looks magnificent! That last photo, looking along the battle line really shows the colour and details. The battle sounds like an interesting one, too - a bit different from the stereotypical Crusaders versus Muslim clash.

Some in-game photos of the Battle of Tell Bashir. This was an interesting battle due to the contrasts of fighting styles. While the fighting between the Franks was resolved pretty quickly, the Arabs versus Franks proceeded more slowly and by the time the battle was over, the fighting between the two Turkish commands had barely progressed at all. Might get around to doing a write-up soon.

Finished two more corner towers, so the town is no longer restricted to the table edge.

Wow! That is seriously good. I really like the way the green area juxtaposes the sandy colour of the building. Fantastic work!

This is all so inspiring. Really great work. Strong Medieval Total War vibes.
