Medieval Scots
« on: 11 March 2023, 11:51:39 AM »
Still on the fence between doing either a Medieval Russian or a Scot/French army.

For the Scots I'm stuggling to find some 28mm MMA/ Spearmen in partial plate armour.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks

Gerry

Which era are you thinking of for the Scots/French?

hadn't quite decided but i'm thinking that the rest of the spearmen in the schiltron will wear ahketon and mainly kettle helms

AnteDiluvian miniatures have a range of scots pikemen, gallowglass, and bowmen.
If you want partial plate for your infantry then you're going to have to use the Perry Agincourt sets.
Claymore castings are good for HYW, but the scots were generally much less well equipped than their contemporaries until the 15th.c.

AnteDiluvian also have 8 noble pikemen/foot knights, which i think should be exactly what you are looking for, but there arent enough to make a unit, i think that theyre meant to be the 'command' section of the pikemen schiltron.

Thanks

I've seen the antedeluvian stuff before, really nice figures. The army is for WAB so it may be awkward to have units meet in combat plus I'm not that good drilling stuff out. That said standard spears would be shorter than those very long spears in the picture.

I think Frontrank/Gripping Beast and Perry's metal Agincourt ranges have dismounted Knights whose weapons can be replaced with spears without drilling and the spears would be  are angled upwards.

If you're okay with 3d prints, Medbury Miniatures have a fantastic 14thC Scottish range. You can get prints on eBay and Etsy.
