Looking for certain modern infantry and vehicles.
« on: October 29, 2009, 02:39:34 AM »
Hello all!

I'm looking for infantry and vehicles in 28mm scale, as is noted above. Vehicle-wise I am looking for the landmine-protected Casspir Mk3 APC and the Ratel IFV or models of similar design. It doesn't need to be completely accurate for me. And as for the infantry I am interested in ones armed with XM8-style weapons.

Thanks in advance.

I'm afraid I haven't a clue on either note - HLBS does some XM-8 armed 'future troopers' in 1/48th, and there are various Casspir/Ratel/etc in 15mm & 20mm ranges; but as far as I'm aware no one makes either in 28mm....

Hmm not sure on those exact vehicles (are they south african?) I know Solido do a lot of french kit in diecast which are the olny ones I can think of off hand.

S&S did have TRatels etc on their to do list a while back in 1/60th but that list has gone form their site

That they are.

Oh, and Overlord. Have you any experience with them? I'd only be interested in at most two of the Ratels. I'll try and search some more for the Casspirs as I am after three of those and I'd rather not resort to making three.

Thanks guys. I'm interested in the 15mm scale ones as well.

Oh, I see. Well I guess when that time comes when I can spare some dough for them and get 'em I'll let people know how it turns out.

The Gaso-line range is fantastic, but damned expensive. It's one of those 'You get what you pay for' moments. They are designed as scale models not wargames models, consequently they aren't quite as robust as you might like and have lots of parts. Pretty as hell though :D

I'm going to stir up some controversy I guess, but try out these guys:

http://hobbyarmordepot.homestead.com/modern.html

More specifically:

MRAP 6x6 Cougar Troop Carrier
MRAP 4x4 Cougar

There are lots of horror stories on TMP about their services, but to be honest I bought a couple of Cougars from them and never had a problem (even with shipping to Europe). The models aren't that great (lots of little air bubbles holes to fill) but they are cheap and with some care can turn into gold ;)

Thanks guys. I'm interested in the 15mm scale ones as well.

for 15mm scale, you can try QRF, in the LKM range section:
http://www.quickreactionforce.co.uk/

but there seems to be a bandwith limit problem at the moment. You should try the link later in the day. :?

If you are looking towards near future/SF in 15mm have you looked at :

http://www.brigademodels.co.uk/NoFrames/SF15/Items/SF15-603.html

a bit slabby, but solid and works well for gaming.

Or this one :

http://www.brigademodels.co.uk/NoFrames/SF15/Items/SF15-602.html

Both are sold as South African SF, but there are some more wheeled vehicles in the Europeans too :
