28mm French Infantry 1950-1990 Manufacturers?
« on: 08 April 2023, 05:05:24 PM »
Looking for some 28mm Cold War French Army miniatures, quite wide period 1950-1990. If possible somewhere in the middle of that time frame. To be used for imagination colonial struggles in jungly equitorial Africa. Preferably miniatures equipped for battle in hot climate like Africa and with plenty of options available such as heavy weapons, command, etc. Looking forward in seeing the possible options.

Empress does Vietnam French Paratroopers.
Thought I had seen French from Eureka miniatures too - I had. They do French with famas. Not sure what period they are for as moderns aren't really my thing.

Yep, Empress do 50s French suitable for conflicts in Indochina, North Africa and Madagascar if memory serves. They also used lots of US, and British kit and weapons in the post war era.
Eureka does 90s French. That might work for late 80s.

Thanks, good ideas already but the range of options for each range looks a bit limited regarding poses and heavy weapon options?

If possible I might be able to mix and match a bit but the Empress Miniatures one looks interesting.

The empress are too early for the eureka minis plus a difference of scale height and heft wise.

If you have access to a printer there is a STL out there also

Cheers

Some of the late war stuff from the UK and US can also be used. The M1 Garand armed one can be used to represent metropolitan French troops in Algeria for the begging of the conflict. And some other lines like warlord games (bolt action) older metalChindits and USMC can also be used with some head swaps for french Union forces. Especially the heavy weapons and light Arty.
Of course the Old Thompson's will be out of date by then as well.
