Ha! I made the mistake of not shaking the bottle enough so that the ball bearing rattled when I first got it, and ended up with some disappointing brown smears.

On the models I hasten to add.

 lol

It’s good stuff …. got carried away a few years back with my Planet of the Apes project and rust-effected an entire subway train…

wow love all of the things!  At sts look amazing damn you  :D

Hey that Kenner shuttle how does it look on the table Akula? Does it scale ok I would love to get one of these but I think I may have to scratch build one as it's out of my budget. But I reckon I could afford a few pieces to help me make it to scale/ cut down on work time....

Inspiring as always Akula cheers

The Kenner shuttle is pretty much spot on scale wise but it’s huge, so unless you’ve got a decent-sized table it might end up dominating things, but it does look like it could hold 20 stormtroopers or 80 tons of cargo.

On the plus side the landing struts raise it up, so you can use the gaming surface underneath it. The folding wings also mean it’s not actually that bad to play around it.

You could easily get away with a reduced scale model for the Lambda 1:72 ( or even smaller? ) particularly if you are planning on building a raised landing pad.

I've got the 1/48 Hasbro Millennium Falcon lying around, which is not so easy to play under/around. But with that monster on the table, I couldn't face myself using a shuttle that was that much smaller, even when it's not side by side with it.

Daft? I know.
Impractical? Absolutely.
Awesome? For sure... lol

Thanks everyone  :)

Something different today…I’ve been thinking about terrain, and inspired by the excellent AAR photos from Malamute & Oshiro decided to start working on a settlement.

The starting point for each component with be a 30cm x 30cm base. The buildings will be from Oshiro, and the scatter will be a combination of Oshiro, Crooked Dice and Ainsty. Although Oshiro does some really useful walls to compliment his buildings, I’ve gone with blue foam on the first base as I’ve got A LOT of blue foam lying around.

Unlike my test piece ( pg 8 ) I’ve opted for a more traditional sand-colour along the lines of the shots from Mando/Book of Boba.

One thing I really wanted these modules to have was internal markets/alleyways to create routes through each base, but also potential choke points.

This final shot sums up what I had in mind  :)

That is a fantastic looking piece of scenery. Daunting and inspiring at the sametime!

And that last picture...  :o

Downloaded to my screensaver and printed out for inspiration.
