Not wanting to hijack the Arnhem kickstarter, here's a new one. I'm currently poncing about assembling the supporting cast, for when we can get our sweaty mitts on the new goodies.
Anyone doing owt similar, please feel free to post yer inspirational creations here!

First up, a little tribute to a member of the XXI Independent Parachute Company. Pte. Jim Fiely was a Bren Gunner, close friend and drinking pal of Corporal Fred Weatherley, an Arnhem veteran who lived near me.

"My section, No.2 Platoon, was in a house in Passberg with the rest of the Platoon backing into Pietersbergseweg. About 15:30 hrs. a patrol was sent out to contact the 10th Battalion who were thought to be in the houses at the top of Annastraat, east of the Schoonord. I was covering with a Bren, which had been damaged and could only fire single shots. The patrol moved off across Passberg and along the gardens of houses in Keer Weer and down a passage leading onto Annastraat. Pte. Fiely took up position with his Bren outside the front door of a house, while the rest searched it. Looking, out across the street to the houses opposite, they saw a figure which seemed to be wearing a Para smock. They called out to see if it was 10th Battalion, but they were Germans and they opened fire and Jim was hit in the head and killed. The rest of the patrol took about an hour to return to our position. Later other soldiers told how they had seen both our patrol and the Germans and had tried to warn them, but their shouts had not been heard."

That's a very nice little tribute.  Good man!

And I already have a platoon plus of Paras all painted up.  Pics of them (and all my WW2 stuff) are down in my WW2 thread.  With the boys from Empress' KS, and other stuff I have laying around, I'll have enough for a 2nd platoon, and probably even a Coy. HQ.

Hi All

The kickstarter has given me the impetus to start and finish the Hartentein Hotel by Sarissa. I'm planning to start a suburb of Armhem perhaps even St. Elizabeth's hospital

On the D/Z Pathfinders of the XXI Independent Parachute Company deploy Eureka Beacons and D/Z marker panels...
