The big question is how to engage  and not have the next generation just wander into their local Warhammer shop.

When I was in my mid 20's, I would show anybody who wandered into the house my ACW and Ancients army. Got a few recruits.

One of my wife's friends daughter wanted me (now in my late 60's) to teach her how to paint, but she decided to play soccer instead.

As part of a new Historical gaming group in Montreal, we have run two "1 day open day events" at our main gaming store Abyss https://www.abyssrestopub.ca/ as a way of introducing the many GW WH 40K players to historical gaming and to help the store owner to stock/sell more historical products.

The first event had Bolt Action/Chain of Command games for WW2 and SAGA games for Ancients plus a painting area. The second event saw Congo and Muskets & Tomahawk games.

Besides the 7 regular historical gamers, we have 3 new players that have attended both event days and around another 7 that have Historicals as their 'second' interest.

This new group is very much into having fun during their games and looking to expand the range of games played.
