We have released an updated Blood on the Sands Quick-start Guide that anyone can download and try out the rules.

Some of you may have played an earlier version of the Quick-start rules. Whilst this version is very similar, the updated Guide has been edited for clarity, uses standardised language, and takes a little more time to introduce some of the fundamental concepts you will need to play the full version of Blood on the Sands. It is laid-out in a style reflective of the final rulebook, complete with some of our original art. The Quick-start rules feature helpful advice from Astinax that will help a new lanistae on the path to learning how to play.

The Quick-start Guide includes everything needed to play - except a couple of minis (tokens are also provided) and some dice.

We’d love to hear about your experiences trying it out, and we also invite you to join the Blood on the Sands Player’s Group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/339066415451207

Follow this link to the files (in both A4 and Letter format): https://www.bloodonthesands.com/quickstart

The retail edition of Blood on the Sands is available for pre-order. This is the same as the Kickstarter edition of the game, but does not include those items marked as Kickstarter-exclusive. For anyone who missed the Kickstarter it can be pre-ordered here: https://www.helios.house/shop/p/blood-on-the-sands-game

Downloaded!

I love the art work, especially the little graffito scattered throughout.

I was tickled by the pep talks from Astinax too.

Even more excited for the final thing!

Well done to the team and to Frank in particular.

Shame the group is on Facebook but one can't have everything, I suppose.

Thanks ithoriel - appreciate your feedback mate!

I've grown pretty attached to Astinax too.

Yeah, Facebook is a necessary evil unfortunately, but you are always welcome to ask questions here.

Really nice to see the quick start rules, will have to try them at the club next week.

One Question about the pre-order/late pledge. Can one add the add ons from the Kickstarter Campaign to a pre-order.

Say you wanted just he basic game and wanted to add the arena and the mdf tokens, can we do that?

When I select the pre order I do not see anything add the add-ons, like the arena the stl files etc. Can tell me how to do that.

Look at the original Kickstarter and it will clearly detail what each package contains.

Then simply select the "Game Pack" you want of the same name on the Helios site (at the bottom of the linked page).

Yes i realize that but how do I add the add ons like stl file of the spectators, the obstacles the mdf counters, the extra rules, and no I do not want the two player ultimate package as I already have dozens of painted gladiators?

Ok, sorry - I understand now. You are interested only in the add-ons. Choose the Core Box and when we open the pledge manager you'll receive an email, along with the other KS backers, and you will be able to apply add-ons at that time.

After years of this rattling around in my head, it's hard to believe I’m now holding the Wargames Atlantic gladiator sprue in my hands. It was an incredible opportunity to provide the historical research and have some input into the sprue’s design. Wargames Atantic has been so generous and amazing to work with.

I've included some of my own close-up pics that should allow you to get a good look at the contents of the sprue.

I think you'll agree that the figures are looking great and there is quite a bit crammed on there.

I've taken a photo of the BotS sprue side by side with a Gangs of Rome (Citizens of Rome) sprue. You'll be able to see that the two are very close and should be able to provide some nice variations.

Yeah, that is looking the part.

I all ready have plenty of Gladiators, but why would that stop me from getting more?

Nothing whatsoever! In fact, just to fan the flames as it were, the fact that it is interchangeable with the citizens of rome sprue raises all sorts of possibilities - like a whole Spartacus-style army! I'm pretty sure that the Spartacist rebellion wasn't the only time gladiators rebelled and started a bit of a slave revolt (before being bloodily put down) just the biggest.
